Having been the cheapie that I am, I've gotten by with two dozen Gerber prefolds ($26 roughly) and six pull-on nylon covers ($24 roughly). For a total of $50 - that's it!

Now, my best friend uses disposable diapers and as her baby has gotten older, disposables get more and more expensive.

She probably spends $100 every month right now on disposable diapers.

(I know she spends about $40 whenever we go to Costco, and we go all the time).

My utility costs increase has been negligible. Really!

I haven't felt the difference personally.

My husband's stereo equipment probably saps more energy than my front-loading energy efficient washer and dryer. SHEESH!
