Thanks to Sara Thompson for this Frugal Baby Tip!

One tip for those who must use the laundrymat is to adjust your diaper numbers to the size of the machines. It costs the same to run the load whether it is full, or only 2/3 full. Handwash your covers and hang to dry at home. This way you can rotate only a few covers. If you are using prefolds and covers, then it is the covers that cost you, more so than the diapers.

Get thoses cheap little terry washcloths to use as wipes. You can use them for more than one change if only wet. This cuts down the number you need to purchase, as well as the bulk in the washer/drier load. When it's time to hit the laundrymat, then throw your covers and wipes in with your diapers or baby clothes to get them really clean.
