I used my electric grater for my soap. If the soap is a soft mill, then you may want to refrigerate it to harden it first, makes cleanup easier. Ivory is like that. My Sunlight soap isn't soft, and it cleans up really well. I have hard water too and I add 1/3 cup washing soda with the 1/4 cup of soap.
