Elke says: You need different fleece for liners than you do for covers. Thicker for covers... Much thinner for liners.
Liners vary as far as dimensions... Measure the crotch of your favorite diaper and make it about an inch narrower and 2 " shorter for the liner...
Aliina says: The liner should fit inside the diaper - a good rectangle or oval about 6" x 14" maybe. Just cut-off the elastic and open up a pair of plastic pants for the pattern. Fleece won't un-ravel so you just need to fold over and hem the edge to make it look nice if you want. 1/4" elastic is fine - try 100% poly thread as the cotton in the "better" threads can sometimes cause wicking.
Do you have the right kind of fleece? Dribble some water on it and see what happens - does it go through? Does it bead up? Can you mush it through? If you have a hard time getting the water to go through, then it is good for a cover. If it goes right through, then it is good only for liners.
