I see these ALL the time at the local thrift stores for under $2. I also see them at Mother's Nature's auction frequently. If new isn't important to you, then you can find one much cheaper then new :-). 
Be SURE that if you get a used one, that you get one that has a built in off switch in the cord. Seems unsafe to have one running 24 hours per day, for weeks on end. I like mine, but I find that keeping my cloth wipe solution on the window sill
keeps it warm enough, from the sunlight. I use a squirt bottle, and I add the solution to my wipes as I need it. Works great!
