Thanks to Debbie for this Frugal Baby Tip!I'll try to answer the questions about fleece liners. You can cut them, and they won't fray so you don't have to do any sewing. They are very absorbent.
I get the Calgary Fleece from Wal-Mart, and it works well for me. I use just one layer of fleece inside the diaper, and it seems to keep the wetness off my son more than just a diaper and doubler. I've also used fleece as a liner with a doubler underneath, and this works too for aborbency.
I've been making fleece covers later and I love them. They don't smell after the first time they get wet either. I can use the same cover about 4 to 5 times and it won't smell. I do wash them by hand with a squirt of Dr. Bronner's and fill my kitchen sink halfway with warm water. Then I soak them for about 1 hour, scrub them by hand and either dry them in the dryer or dry them outside.
